On the hunt...

... to break men hearts! No, I'm just kidding.

I'm on the hunt for college requirements and such, and it's so hard ; 3 ;

It's been up in the air whether to actually go to school and get a career or to do what I love (which is creating fashion designs).
Seven, enlightened me, that a person goes to school to learn new things and talents. I already have somewhat talent with fashion design, so I should pursue learning a new "subject".

Which is Material sciences~

What is material science?

It is the investigation of the relationship between the structure of materials at atomic or molecular scales and their macroscopic properties

Yaayy, wiki .

I've searched schools in California with good material science courses and the two that popped up were University of California: Berkley and University of Southern California.
So far, I've only checked Berkley and the only requirements I found on the site were:
  • A minimum score of 680 on the SAT Reasoning Test, Writing Section
  • A minimum score of 680 on the SAT II: Subject Test in Writing
  • A minimum score of 3 on the Advanced Placement Test in English Composition and Literature or in English Language and Composition
  • A minimum score of 5 on the International Baccalaureate Higher Level Examination in English (Language A only)
  • A minimum score of 6 on the International Baccalaureate Standard Level English and Exam
  • A minimum grade of C in a transferable college-level English composition course completed at an accredited college or university and accepted by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Berkeley.
The only thing that scares me about this is the SATs. Like... I'm having a melt down of not passing that. I mean, I've been encouraged that I will pass... but something is haunting me.
My father even said, "Yer passing yer classes now and yer smart, you should do just fine"

That was great motivation... but I'm seriously losing my mind now.

I also haven't done much volunteering. I've done them for local conventions and I plan on volunteering for PCC ('cause I'm not getting a table) and at the library this summer when I'm not working.

Another thing, is that, I haven't done any kind of extracurricular activities at school for the past three years. I hope that selling art and such at local cons can apply to my "extracurricular activities". It is learning how to do business and working with others. That should apply somehow~

Also, if any of you college student friends of mine have any advice... I gladly welcome it. Also tips for getting scholarships and financial aid, yess?

Did I also mention that my tuition is around
$35,341
and that my parents aren't helping me pay? Oh joy.

Resolutions for 2011

If I possibly leave this here in words, for everyone to see, maybe, those people around me can clarify if these Resolutions will actually be succeeded by 2012.

01. Keep calm and stay classy.

I've noticed lately at the end of 2010, my patience or... whatever has been slimming and I've been getting aggravated a lot easier. And that's not cool with me, so I've been saying this in my head repeatedly for a while to "Stay calm and classy."

I must say, it has been working and things have been getting simpler... in a sense.

02. Do something productive everyday.

This may not be seen easily, but for personal purposes, I've set a goal for myself that by my Senior year in high school, I will be dressed classy/jpunk/Ruki - induced outfits for my days at school. It's like that dramatic change over summer type of deal, ya know? I figured, if I do something productive everyday, like making clothes, I would have enough to rotate for my last year of high school.

03. Get a job.
Oh, this one sounds so hard, but I MUST TRY.

04. Drink lots of water!

Such an odd New Years Resolution, but in the middle of 2010, I got really nutrition crazed and was eating healthy and what not, and I sort of got out of that once "winter" came in. Which sucks! I haven't been drinking as much water as I liked, but I wasn't necessarily drinking soda. It was more of milk... but that doesn't really help my situation on how water helps yer body copiously. And I feel that when I drink more water, it gives off this domino affect to do healthier things. I will start drinking more water. End of story.

05. Work harder for Dictator Fantasyland.

Dictator Fantasyland is Japanese Punk induced "brand" that started out in a friends basement. After she took her trip to Japan, we decided to start up this "small business" and started selling JPunk accessories at local cons. To take another step forward with DF, I want to start making actual pieces for the local convention fashion shows and to sell.

I think these five are good enough for people to read. I do have more, but they're more personal and related to how I am as a person. Kinda boring too~

A New Day, a New Year

December has been quite... hectic. More like the past two weeks though, since I've been working very hard on new prints for Taiyou Con.

I finally finished all prints and am now working on clothes for the fashion show (at Taiyou)! I know I've told the theme to some people, but... you'll just have to be there to see what it is. If you must know, Taiyou Con is Jan. 07 - 09.

I have only a couple of days to finish all articles of clothing. Wish me luck! !

Also, for the past two days, I had Saint and Cho over. It was good to hang out with them, since they both go to out-of-state colleges. Saint brought over Inception and Sherlock Holmes. Which I must say, are both amazing movies.

Especially Inception because Arthur (
Joseph Gordon-Levitt ) is just... he has so much class is all I can say.

Plus, it was just so trippy watching it the first time. I love it! !
Sherlock Holmes was amazing too! I must find out who plays Moriarty! (I think that's his name hahah)
All in all, the three of us had a good 2 days. We discussed the fashion show theme, watched some Miyazaki film ( The Cat Returns ), Sailor Moon and Charlie McDonnell.
His BBC Confidential for Doctor Who made my night so hard hahah.

Then, last night, I went to a Year End "Celebration" with Cho and met up with other friends. The theme for the night was Hollywood. Which entails I had to look classy/fierce. I did, and it was an epic night. There was a live band, and two friends of mine (Seven and Henry) showed off their dancing skills. It was uber entertaining.
That was pretty much my night for the last day of 2010.

I hope you had a great one too, and that 2011 is epic for you. I know it will be for me.

Ciao and Happy New Year,
Larxy.
